2011 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid

We like the Ford Fusion Hybrid -- a lot. Enter stage left, the "2011 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid", which is making its big debut in the Big Apple.

The2011 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid will be Lincoln's first hybrid when it hits showrooms this fall. It's essentially a Fusion Hybrid with Lincoln luxury appointments and exterior style. Its parallel hybrid powertrain -- a 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle I-4 hybrid engine that works in concert with an electric motor to produce 191 net horsepower -- is unchanged from the Fusion version. Oh, and Lincoln's version uses white flowers inspired by apple blossoms. Pretty!

The MKZ Hybrid is also endowed with all the latest in Lincoln standard luxury touches, including Lincoln's version of Sync, heated and cooled seats with 10-way power passenger seat, real wood trim (that of course comes from eco-friendly managed forests), a reverse sensing system and Lincoln's Personal Safety System -- a suite of seven safety technologies.

From the “Well, Duh” Department at Ford Motor Company comes the new hybrid version of the Lincoln MKZ. The 2011 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid is fitted with the same gasoline-electric system found in the hybrid versions of its corporate twins, the Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan.

The hybrid powertrain combines a 156-hp, 2.5-liter four-cylinder gas engine and 106-hp electric motor for a total system output of 191 hp; it’s rated for 41 mpg in the city and 36 on the highway in the Fusion and Milan variants. In the Milan and Fusion hybrids, a screen-based botanical garden grows leaves and vines as a reward for fuel-efficient driving; the Lincoln adds pretty flowers! What’s next, rain-forest fragrances emanating from the HVAC system?

2011 Audi A8 overview

The 2011 Audi A8 was introduced a little differently: Audi rented an art gallery in a nearby city and sent the cars, chauffeured, to each journalist's house. With the car left for a week of driving on familiar roads.

The 2011 Audi A8
The car debuted was the normal wheelbase model, but that wheelbase is two inches greater than that of the previous generation, for more rear seat room. Reduced weight means improved performance and fuel economy, and improved fuel economy means lower carbon emissions.
Power, of course, goes to all four wheels via the latest development of Audi's quattro permanent all-wheel drive system, with a 40/60 front/rear static torque split for optimum sportiness. Comfort is Euro-luxury, compliant but well-damped, and still allows an enjoyable driving experience. In-car secure wifi will also be offered.

In-car time is often the only time people have to listen to favorite music, and the A8's B&O system makes that a wonderful time.
My test car had heated and cooled multi-mode massage front seats, mmmmmm! Ride, handling, and power? Which works exceedingly well for a luxury car, and with surprisingly good fuel economy. Audi has quietly been gaining market share in an uncertain market. The 2011 Audi A8 is a fine car in which to be chauffeured.

Class-leading cabin, brilliant drive, comfort and luxury; Audi A8 has a bundle of attractive features. Though, its unexciting design and comparatively high price makes it recommended rather than highly recommended.

Handling of the car is competent considering the huge size of the Audi A8. With no extra body roll, the body control is precise too.
The four setting options of the air suspension system of the car have made it easy to travel on any type of surface. The ride of the Audi A8 remains comfortable identically be it a highway or a low-speed path. To attain an ideal driving position, the driver has been given numerous adjustment options. To cruise long distance, along with an adequate driving position, the flexible seats also help.
The two engine options offered comprise a 3.2-litre V6 and 4.2-litre V8.
The 3.2-litre V6 gives off quite adequate fuel economy, the reason behind is obviously Audi's FSI Direct Injection technology. With core rivals such as BMW and Mercedes-Benz, Audi will be experiencing more depreciation.
The cost of close rivals such as the BMW 3.0-litre and 4.0-litre 7-Series are close.

2011 Ford Fiesta has earned Top Safety

The 2011 Ford Fiesta has earned Top Safety Pick honors from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the first minicar to earn the designation.

The 2011 Fiesta earned the Top Safety Pick moniker by featuring standard stability control, Side Protection and Cabin Enhancement (SPACE) architecture and an impressive number of airbags including a driver's knee airbag, dual-stage first-row airbags and side-impact and side curtain airbags.
The 2011 Ford Fiesta -- those built after July of this year -- has just been awarded a Top Safety Pick award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

The award's standards changed recently when rollover protection was emphasized with a more stringent roof strength requirement.

The Fiesta earned good ratings in the front, side, rear, and rollover tests, but also has stability control as standard equipment.

The 2011 Ford Fiesta is the first minicar to earn the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's (IIHS) Top Safety Pick award since the addition of rollover roof strength testing. The 2011 Fiesta scored "good," the top rating from the IIHS, in front, side, rollover and rear crash protection while featuring electronic stability control standard on all models. Fully loaded, the 2011 Fiesta can reach above $23,000--well into midsize sedan territory.

Peugeot 3008, with HYbrid4 technology

The Peugeot 3008, with HYbrid4 technology, is the first diesel “Full Hybrid” production car to be marketed in the world. It is also an original and virtuous association of diesel and electric power.

It must also provide new driving sensations, improved driveability and improved driving enjoyment.

high performance combined with high levels of driveability,
In terms of performance, the 3008 HYbrid4 can benefit from the combined power of the HDi diesel engine and electric motor during acceleration, for an immediate surge in power (“boost” function). The maximum combined power output can then reach 147 kW (200bhp) through the addition of 120 kW (163 bhp) from the 2.0 litre HDi FAP diesel engine and the temporary peak of the electric motor (27 kW, or 37 bhp). This allows optimal driving with a mix of low fuel consumption and dynamic driveability,
“ZEV” mode (Zero Emission Vehicle) provides access to an extensive all-electric mode. The driver can apply this mode to drive discreetly around town or demonstrate the silence of the vehicle in electric mode, etc,
Four-wheel drive mode (4WD) instructs both power trains to operate together as far as possible; the rear wheels are then driven by the electric motor and the front wheels by the HDi diesel engine. Offering peace of mind, safety and driveability, four-wheel drive accentuates the vehicle’s dynamic character. “Sport” mode favours quicker gear changes at higher engine speeds than normal mode. HYbrid4 technology is based on the combined use of the best technologies developed by Peugeot’s engineers: diesel engine, electric motor, second-generation STOP & START and an electronically-controlled sequential manual gearbox.

The “hybrid” power train basically combines a diesel engine and an electric motor. Initially, Peugeot has relied logically on the recognised expertise of the PSA Peugeot Citroën Group in the field of diesel engines with HDi FAP technology. expertise in the field of electric vehicles. Hybrid technology uses two power trains which can operate alternately or simultaneously:
the HDi diesel engine operates in its most optimal operating window on longer, out-of-town journeys. A diesel engine still remains the most efficient and versatile choice to power any vehicle,
French automaker PSA Peugeot Citroen SA will launch its first diesel-electric hybrid: Peugeot 3008 Hybrid4, at the Guangzhou Auto Show starting December 21, 2010, Media reported Wednesday.
Peugeot says the 3008 Hybrid4 is capable of a total combined output of 150kW and a combined maximum torque of 500Nm: 300Nm at the front wheels and 200Nm at the rear.

Changeover from the HDi diesel engine to the electric motor occurs automatically, thanks to a STOP & START system which places the HDi diesel engine in standby and restarts it as and when conditions require (accelerator pedal usage, low battery charge level, etc),

Mercedes-Benz is set to launch a wave of small luxury vehicles in the United States

An exciting new design with expressive front features including a central star in the grille and dynamic feature line flowing back towards the rear the new Mercedes-Benz CLS brings refined sportiness to life. A mixture of satin and high-gloss finishes are used on the metal surfaces inside the Mercedes-Benz CLS. Customers can choose between three exclusive types of wood, high-gloss brown burr walnut, high-gloss black ash and satin-finish light-brown poplar.

Mercedes-Benz is set to launch a wave of small luxury vehicles in the United States. An all-new C-class coupe will debut next year, followed by three derivatives of the front-wheel-drive B class in 2012 and 2013.

"Everyone wants to be Mercedes-Benz," said Ernst Lieb, CEO of Mercedes-Benz USA. B class: Coupe, crossover and sedan versions of the next-generation B class come to the United States in 2012-13. The B-class range is expected to have four-cylinder engines, which are currently not available in any Mercedes product sold in the United States. F cell: An electric fuel cell version of the current B class sold in Europe is coming to the United States in the fourth quarter. All together, Mercedes has said it will test 100 of the 240-mile-range electric vehicles in the United States.

C class: The sedan gets a mild freshening this year, and an all-new coupe based on the current-generation sedan goes on sale next year.

E class: A redesigned E-class Cabriolet and station wagon went on sale this year, joining the new-generation sedan and coupe. CL: The CL is slated for a redesign in 2013, when Mercedes probably will change the name to the S-class coupe.

The CL500 version gets a new twin-turbocharged, 4.6-liter V8 direct-injection gasoline engine with 429 hp. The high-performance CL63 AMG gets a more powerful engine: a 5.5-liter, twin-turbocharged V8 with 536 hp. The CL65 keeps its 621-hp, 6.0-liter V12.

S class: The S63 version with a new 5.5-liter biturbo engine goes on sale in November. A redesigned S class comes to the United States in 2013. SLK: A redesigned SLK hard-top convertible is expected next year.

SLS AMG: The $185,750 SLS gull-wing AMG went on sale in mid-May. It is powered by a 563-hp, 6.3-liter V8. Mercedes isn't saying whether it will make a second-generation R class.
ML: A redesigned SUV goes on sale next year with a new generation of engines, including a 50-state diesel.

Sprinter: A select group of Mercedes dealers began selling the commercial vehicle this year. The Sprinter is powered by a Mercedes V6 diesel.

Audi A1 Review

Audi A1 :A proper Audi in miniature. That's the idea of the Audi A1 which, its creator claims, is the first compact car in the premium sector. Is Audi seriously ignoring the Mini, the Alfa Mito, the socially mobile Citroën DS3? First off, a red one with silver roof hoops and a 122bhp, 1.4-litre, turbocharged engine. It looks neat, uncluttered, taut, confident, with a shorter front overhang than today's droopy norm. The look will age well.

The wheels are set more widely apart than the Polo's, the suspension is a little firmer, and the body sits a little lower on the wide wheels. The scope for personalising the decor is considerable, with various electronic enhancements including a hefty drive for music files whose album covers can be displayed, Apple CoverFlow fashion.

Audi A1 A five-door version arrives later. That it will be the only transmission offered in the future 180bhp, turbo-and-supercharged version is a shame. It seems there is no manual gearbox able both to fit the 1.4-litre engine and handle the "hot" version's hefty torque output.
It's an excellent small car and an excellent Audi A1, and I like it.

Audi will challenge BMW's Mini Cooper and the BMW 1-Series with a premium subcompact of its own.

The 2010 Audi A1's basic design will doubtless borrow heavily from parent VW's European-market Polo, but will likely not be a retrimmed version of that small hatchback. A current example is the VW Eos retractable hardtop convertible, which blends structural elements of the compact Rabbit/Jetta and midsize Passat, but has no Audi counterpart.

Have we reached Peak Supermini? MINI, MiTo, Polo, Panda, 500, Clio, Fiesta, DS3, Yaris… The facia combines Audi's exemplary switches and dials with the Polo's bullet-proof build quality. The penalty is a lack of storage space around the front-seat passengers, with tiny door pockets. There are three four-cylinder engines – two turbo petrol units (1.2, 85bhp and 1.4, 120bhp) and a 104bhp, 1.6 turbodiesel. The 1.2 and 1.6 engines have five-speed transmissions, while the 1.4 comes with a choice of six-speed manual or seven-speed, twin-clutch auto (a £1,420 option).

Honda CR-Z hybrid

The Honda CR-Z hybrid

The Honda CR-Z hybrid might be the least anticipated gas-electric car heading to the market. Honda says that the CR-Z combines fun, small and efficient in a sporty package. After the first month on the market in Japan, Honda received more than 10,000 orders.

The Honda CR-Z hybrid borrows much of the hybrid system from the Honda Insight—but its engine has 16 valves instead of the Insight's eight. The Honda CR-Z hybrid 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine—compared to the Insight’s 1.3—is also mated to a six-speed manual gearbox—making it the only hybrid on the market available with a manual transmission. The Honda CR-Z hybrid clearly borrows its overall shape from the Honda CRX sports car, a version of the Civic that was produced from 1984 to 1991.

A Sports Car Without Maximum Speed
According to Automotive News, the engineer had to convince executives at American Honda Motor that US drivers would want a sporty-looking hybrid. The Honda CR-Z hybrid hits American shores in mid-2010.

Hybrids are many things. Sporty? No one in their right mind would call hybrids sporty.

Honda delivers much-needed excitement to eco-friendly driving with the CR-Z, an attractive, affordable hybrid that's a genuine hoot to drive. The thing is, the CR-Z doesn't feel like a hybrid. There's no lag when the 10-kilowatt electric motor hands off to the 1.5-liter engine. Econ shifts the equation toward maximum fuel efficiency. (Honda hasn't finalized pricing.)

New 2011 Honda Odyssey

The 2011 Honda Odyssey is fully redesigned with a fresh look inside and out. Improved fuel economy and a second-row bench that accommodates three child safety seats are also part of the 2011 Odyssey redesign.

Should you wait for the "2011 Honda Odyssey" or buy a 2010 Honda Odyssey? If you’ve got an immediate need for an eight-passenger family vehicle, consider a 2010 Odyssey.

The 2011 Honda Odyssey gets an all-new body that tries mightily to inject some spice into the minivan formula. Honda calls these people “hesitaters” and hopes the 2011 Odyssey’s sleek new look makes minivan ownership palatable to them.

Honda designers say minivans look most generic when viewed from the side. Wheelbase remains at 118.1 inches. Returning higher up the line will be the 2011 Honda Odyssey Touring, with the 2011 Honda Odyssey Touring Elite designated the new flagship model.

Honda confirms the "2011 Odyssey LX" will have two second-row bucket seats for seven-passenger capacity. All other 2011 Odyssey models will again seat up to eight, a capacity matched among minivans only by the Sienna. The outgoing Odyssey’s second-row seat accommodated up to two child seats. On the 2011 Odyssey, the second-row’s middle section can slide forward for better access to your kid from the front row.

Is it true that you should generally stay away from purchasing the 1st year of a redesigned model? It seems that the captains chairs on 2011 odyssey can no longer be placed together. Can someone verify this?

Honda is being stingy with details about its "new 2011 Odyssey minivan". Wider, Lower, Longer
Designed and engineered wholly in North America, the 2011 Odyssey is both wider and lower than the outgoing model. The track goes up 1.4 inches while overall height drops 1.6 inches. Honda calls the new Odyssey's look an example of "Lightning Bolt Design." No cleverly hiding that track in the base of the side glass for Honda.

Again, there's no word from Honda about horsepower and torque ratings. Honda has, however, let out preliminary EPA fuel mileage ratings for the 2011 Odyssey of 19 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway.

Lotus has taken the award winning Evora and re-created it with a 350 PS 3.5l V6 engine to create the Lotus Evora S. Dany Bahar Lotus' Chief Executive Officer summed it up beautifully when he said: "You don't realise what you were missing from your driving experience until you get behind the wheel of the Evora S."

So apart from the obvious power difference, how is the Lotus Evora S different to the standard Evora? It's another question we put to the CEO (given that he's spent a little time behind the wheel, we thought he'd be best placed to answer questions). This is what he said: "It's the next level of Evora experience. It communicates with you better, the suspension setting has been fine tuned for added power and control so it responds even more to direction. It's an instinctual car, the experience is pure."

"We were proud of the Evora but we're even prouder of the Lotus Evora S, I feel like it does the true Lotus experience justice. The really great thing is that as we move forward the standard Evora should also benefit from some of these developments."

The Lotus Evora S comes with a sport pack as standard featuring a 'sport' button which allows the driver to control throttle response and activate the exhaust by-pass valve. The sport button also raises the instantaneous rev limit and changes the dynamic stability control settings resulting in a total experience change. There are cross-drilled brakes for improved cooling. And here's a heads up for those who buy into the old adage 'you can tell the men from the boys by the size of their toys': the external emotion of the Lotus Evora S has been improved with a completely new active exhaust which means that at the push of a button the car sounds just as dramatic as it feels.

Commenting on the Lotus Evora S, Lotus Chief Commercial Officer Andreas Prillmann said: "The Evora S is a natural progression for us but more than that, it's a taste of what people can come to expect from the next generation of Lotus cars. It retains core Lotus values such as performance through lightweight but it also gives more than that. It's the perfect combination of top performance, style and comfort. Form doesn't sacrifice function in the case of the Lotus Evora S."

So there you have it folks, the next generation of Lotus Evora, the Evora S, set to be unveiled at the 2010 Paris Motor Show.

ROUSHcharger Tuner Kit for the 2011 Ford Mustang GT

Ford Mustang GT

Roush Performance Products has launched the 5.0L ROUSHcharger Tuner Kit for the 2011 "Ford Mustang GT". Shedding off the initial output ratings of 412 hp from the 5.0-liter Mustang, the engine now produces 550 hp on pump gasoline with more than 470 lb-ft of torque.

Also included in the kit are 47 lb. fuel injectors, high-flow fuel rails, a high-flow ROUSH air lid, and a twin 60mm throttle body. 5.0L ROUSHcharger Tuner Kit has been priced at $5,999.00 and is available now.

Earlier this week, Ford Racing rolled out the official information on the Ford Racing/Whipple supercharger packages for the "2011 Ford Mustang GT" and last night, the folks at Roush Performance of Livonia formally dropped the specs on their new supercharger setup for the 2011 5.0L.

The 2011 Ford Mustang GT Roush supercharger currently comes in just one form – the 5.0 ROUSHcharger Tuner Kit – and there are a variety of differences between this new package and the kits offered by Ford Racing. The up-side to the Roush kit for the 2011 Mustang GT is that in this form, it offers 550 horsepower at 7psi of boost where the Ford Racing/Whipple kit offers just 525hp and at the same time, the Roush kit carries an MSRP over a thousand dollars lower. However, this new Roush kit DOES NOT maintain the factory engine warranty where the Ford Racing entry-level (525hp) kit not only maintains the warranty, but comes with a 12-month, 12,000 mile warranty of its own. Another advantage of the Roush Tuner Kit for the 2011 Mustang GT is the company’s statement that this kit can be tuned to make over 600 horsepower with an upgraded fuel system and bottom end (engine internals) along with a smaller pulley.

Hyundai Tucson's Review

2010 Hyundai Tucson's Review
the 2010 Hyundai Tucson Affordable Compact SUVs. This ranking is based on our analysis of 16 published reviews and test drives of the Hyundai Tucson, and our analysis of reliability and safety data.

While it previously lagged behind competitors, the Hyundai Tucson gets a much-needed redesign that gives it greater power, more style and nearly best-in-class highway fuel economy.

That makes it one of the most fuel-efficient gas-only SUVs in its class.

The "2010 Hyundai Tucson's" performance is generally pleasant, though it won’t provide much excitement.

When the Hyundai Tucson debuted for the 2005 model year, it represented Hyundai's first entry in the long-established small SUV segment.

Enter the second-generation Hyundai Tucson's, which arrived for 2010 with sharp exterior styling and a slick interior to match. "Current Hyundai Tucson
The five-passenger Hyundai Tucson is a car-based compact SUV".

Unlike many small SUVs, the "Hyundai Tucson's" is available only with a single engine: a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine good for 176 horsepower and 168 pound-feet of torque. The Tucson is available in GLS and Limited trim levels. The Limited adds alloy wheels, leather upholstery, heated front seats, a tilt-and-telescoping multifunction steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control and Bluetooth. Used Hyundai Tucson Models

The current, second-generation Hyundai Tucson debuted for the 2010 model year.

The first-generation Tucson was produced from 2005-2009. Every first-generation Hyundai Tucson had antilock brakes, stability control, front seat-mounted side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags.

The base GL was powered by a 140-horsepower, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine mated to either a five-speed manual (mandatory on AWD models) or a four-speed automatic transmission. The top-shelf Limited model boasted items such as a sunroof, leather seats, automatic climate control and an upgraded audio system. In reviews, we praised the first-generation Tucson for its roomy interior and generous list of standard comfort and safety features.

Toyota Matrix Recalls

Toyota Matrix Recalls
There is a Toyota Corolla Recall and also a Toyota Matrix Recall that is going on right now. About 1.3 million of the vehicles are being recalled due to defective engines. The Toyota Corolla and the "Toyota Matrix Recalls" are the latest recalls from this motor company.

The recall of some Toyota vehicles in the US market may affect some users here in Ghana.

Toyota has announced another recall involving more than one million cars.

The recall could affect second hand users of these models here in Ghana.

This is because most of the home use Toyota Matrix and Corolla vehicles on the local market are from the US.

Henry Sackey, transport engineer with Dates Limited told Joy Business it is difficult to quantify the total number of such vehicles on the Ghanaian market.

the Audi A3

One vehicle meant to break that tradition is the Audi A3.

Smaller and lighter than an A4 2.0T Avant Quattro, the front-drive Audi A3 presents a strong argument for buying a bargain sport wagon, provided one goes easy on the options.
It's an upscale alternative to more mainstream hatchbacks, a cheaper alternative to a regular luxury wagon, and with the clean-burning diesel engine, an extremely-fuel efficient alternative to hybrids. Current Audi A3

The Audi A3 is available in Premium and Premium Plus trim levels. Standard features on the Premium include 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, leather seating and a 10-speaker sound system. The first, more traditional choice is the gasoline-fueled turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that produces 200 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque.

Gasoline-powered Audi A3 models are offered with either front-wheel drive or Audi's Quattro all-wheel-drive system. The TDI is only offered with front-wheel drive. Front-wheel-drive gasoline models can be equipped with either a six-speed manual transmission or Audi's quick-shifting S tronic automated dual-clutch six-speed manual transmission. At the same time, the suspension keeps the "Audi A3" buttoned down without transmitting harsh road impacts to the cabin. "Used Audi A3 Models"

The Audi A3 was introduced as a 2006 model in the United States. It was outfitted with Quattro and the S tronic transmission standard. Trim levels also corresponded with engine choice (2.0T and 3.2 Quattro).

The exterior and interior were refreshed, most notably with Audi's signature larger grille and LED running lights. Hill-hold assist was added to manual-transmission-equipped cars
The 2010 Audi A3 Small Cars.

The Audi A3 boasts a winning combination of quality, sportiness and attractive styling that is a rare find for small-car shoppers. The Audi’s performance and prestige come at a high price -- literally. If you can live without the Audi prestige and performance, there are less expensive choices. The Volkswagen GTI saves you $4,000 and provides an even sportier driving experience -- but it can’t match the Audi for interior refinement and doesn’t offer a fuel-efficient diesel engine. The "Audi A3" comes in two trims, Premium and Premium Plus. Audi’s Quattro all-wheel drive is available for non-diesel models only.

next generation of Hyundai's Equus, Genesis Sedan and Genesis Coupe

Hyundai Genesis Coupe
Following the successful run of the Hyundai Genesis and the Hyundai Genesis Coupe, the 2011 Equus large luxury sedan will hit dealerships later this year powered by a 4.6L Tau V8 making 385-hp and 333 lb-ft of torque.

According to Hyundai America CEO John Krafcik, Hyundai will also offer an all-wheel-drive version of the Equus in the near future. All-wheel-drive will also trickle down the platform line to the Genesis sedan and the Genesis Coupe.

Currently, Hyundai only offers all-wheel-drive on its SUVs and crossovers.
Exhibit A was the Genesis sedan, which was quickly followed by the Genesis Coupe and now the Equus luxury sedan. But the Korean automaker isn't content to rest on its rear-wheel-drive laurels.

John Krafcik, president and chief executive officer of Hyundai Motor America, has confirmed to us that the next generation of the Genesis (in both Coupe and sedan forms) and Equus will get optional all-wheel drive.

The next generation of Hyundai's Equus, Genesis Sedan and Genesis Coupe will get all-wheel drive according to CEO John Krafcik, revealed at today's Equus drive event. The move is no doubt intended to put Hyundai on equal footing with its luxury rivals like BMW, Cadillac, and Audi, all of which offer all-wheel drive versions of their most popular sedans and coupes.

Volkswagen Scirocco announced

Last week, at its plant in Portugal, Volkswagen celebrated its 100,000th third generation Scirocco rolling off the production line. Andreas Hinrichs, Autoeuropa Plant Manager, said: “The Scirocco is one of the most important cars that we produce.
Volkswagen launched the Scirocco hatchback in 1974 and that model has been very successful for the brand in its segment with sales hitting 795,650 units up until 1992. The Scirocco is now in its third generation model, which is built at the company’s Automóveis Ltda. plant in Portugal

Volkswagen announced on Friday that it has produced the 100,000 unit of the third-generation model. The 100,000th model is a Scirocco R 2.0 TSI, in Rising Blue Metallic, with a Titan Black interior, radio navigation system, Park Pilot and a tilting sunroof.
For myself personally, it was a moving moment”, said Andreas Hinrichs, Autoeuropa Plant Manager.
One of the best things about imported vehicles is they let consumers enjoy genuine Volkswagen-branded cars, Hu said.

Hu's words came in an interview after the third race in Volkswagen's Scirocco Cup China 2010 on the Chengdu International Circuit.

With both the Golf GTI and Scirocco, Volkswagen offers young customers that favoring sporty cars affordable choices compared with much more expensive supercars, Hu said.

2011 Hyundai Equus

The 2011 Hyundai Equus

Hyundai surprised the automotive world when displayed the 2010 "Hyundai Equus" at the 2009 New York Auto Show. The success of the Hyundai Genesis sedan, however, has the Korean automaker thinking big. If Americans will embrace the Genesis as a Hyundai luxury car with a price tag as high as $40,000, some ask, what's to stop them from embracing a more luxurious model a step up the food chain wearing a Hyundai badge?

The Genesis offers some equipment found only on $50,000 luxury cars in a $32,000 to $40,000 price range. The Genesis appears to be convincing skeptical auto writers and skeptical car shoppers that Hyundai can build a bargain luxury car.

2011 Hyundai Equus
In Asian markets, this car is sold as an alternative to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and Lexus LS - a super-luxury car with a sticker price approaching six figures. Would Americans accept a six-figure Hyundai?

The Genesis succeeds by offering a BMW 5-Series-like experience for the price of a 3-series.
Standard Equus features like a massaging driver seat, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control and a 17-speaker surround-sound audio system are usually options on even high-end luxury cars. Hyundai even plans to supply Equus owners with an Apple iPad as a standard feature, which will function as a sort of interactive owner's manual and maintenance minder.

2011 Hyundai Equus
Even with this minor demerit, the 2011 Hyundai Equus is a genuine competitor to other luxury sedans, both midsize cars like the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class and flagships like the BMW 7 Series and Mercedes S-Class. The "2011 Hyundai Equus" is a large luxury sedan available in Signature and Ultimate trim levels. The Equus Ultimate seats four, as the rear bench seat is replaced with a pair of reclining bucket seats with heating/cooling/massaging functions and a passenger-side power footrest. Toyota Corola recall?

Toyota Corola recall
The automaker says it will recall 1 million 2005 to 2008 model year vehicles to address a problem with an electronic component that can cause the cars to stall. The recall also affects 200,000 Pontiac Vibe models.

"Toyota has recalled more than 1 million of its Corolla and Matrix cars, just days after U.S. auto safety regulators stepped up a probe into the risk that the vehicles could stall because of defective electronic engine control units. The recall also affects 200,000 Pontiac Vibe models built by a joint venture between General Motors Co. and Toyota".

Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. Inc. said Thursday that the recall of the 2005 to 2008 model year vehicles sold in North America was to address a problem with an electronic component called an engine control module that might have been improperly manufactured. No other Toyota or Lexus vehicles are involved in this recall.

Toyota has known about the engine problem since 2005, when it issued dealers a notice — called a technical service bulletin — that explained how to fix it. "We have known about the fact that there have been complaints of stalling engines," Toyota spokesman John Hanson said. Before the recall, if a customer complained about the issue the dealer would be expected to make a repair during the warranty period and charge the expense to the automaker. Toyota plans to replace the module on all of the recalled vehicles at no charge to owners. It will mail notice of the recall to owners starting in mid-September. Car owners with questions can go to http://www.toyota.com/recall or call Toyota at (800) 331-4331.
The Vibe was designed and engineered by Toyota, GM said.

Toyota's announcement today that it will, indeed, recall 1.1 million Corollas and Matrixes for computer glitches that can cause them to stall in traffic marks the 15th Toyota or Lexus recall so far this year, Toyota says.

2010 Subaru Tribeca overview

The 2010 Subaru Tribeca Affordable Midsize SUVs. While auto reviewers praise the Subaru Tribeca's powerful engine, responsive ride and well-equipped cabin, some wonder if it offers enough to distinguish itself from the competition. The Subaru Tribeca’s strengths are its seven-passenger seating (newly standard for 2010) and Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system. With a base price around $31,000, the Tribeca is one of the pricier vehicles in its class. In a big, big field."

It costs a whopping $10,000 less than the 2010 Subaru Tribeca (even with the extra-cost third-row seat) and boasts considerably higher 19/25 mpg fuel economy. Another option is the seven-seat Suzuki XL7, which costs about $6,000 less than the Tribeca and achieves 17/24 mpg fuel economy.

The 2010 Subaru Tribeca takes its name from the artsy New York City neighborhood, and indeed, this Subaru has a little avant-garde in its genes. Moreover, the Subaru Tribeca ride is smooth and quiet -- unusually so for a Subaru.

A midsize crossover SUV, the 2010 Subaru Tribeca comes in Premium, Limited and Touring trim levels, each with standard seven-passenger seating. The Premium comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, tri-zone automatic climate control, a tilt (but not telescoping) steering wheel, heated power front seats, full power accessories, cruise control, a six-speaker CD/MP3 sound system with an auxiliary input jack, a 7-inch display screen and keyless entry.
Optional on both Limited (Moonroof package required) and Touring is a Navigation package that includes a navigation system, a back-up camera (with the camera display migrating to the navigation screen) and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

The "2010 Subaru Tribeca's" 3.6-liter, horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine produces 256 horsepower and 247 pound-feet of torque. All Tribecas use an all-wheel-drive system that sends 55 percent of the power to the rear wheels in normal driving.

Fuel economy is unimpressive, however, at 16 mpg city/21 mpg highway and 18 mpg combined.

Every 2010 Subaru Tribeca comes with antilock brakes (with brake assist), traction control and stability control with a rollover sensor. Front-seat side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags and active front head restraints round out the safety features.

In government crash tests, the Tribeca scored a perfect five stars for both front and side impact protection.

The Subaru Tribeca interior is its most distinctive feature. The Tribeca's front seats offer fine comfort, but the rear compartment isn't so pleasant. Maximum cargo capacity is just 74 cubic feet.
Subarus tend to be entertainingly quirky vehicles to drive, but the 2010 Subaru Tribeca bucks this trend

2010 Honda Accord review and price

2010 Honda Accord

The 2010 Honda Accord Affordable Midsize Cars. The Honda Accord has been one of Car and Driver's 10 Best for 23 straight years. After its 2008 redesign, the Honda Accord was named Motor Week's Best Family Sedan. Reviewers praise the 2010 Honda Accord for its roomy interior (so large that the government classifies the Accord as a large car, though most reviewers treat it as a midsize), strong reliability history and high resale value. The Accord is an outstanding choice for many buyers. But the class of affordable midsize cars is changing.

Be sure to check for current Honda Deals that may be available on a 2010 Honda Accord.

Last redesigned in 2008, the Honda Accord enters 2010 with few significant changes. You’ll need to step up to a more expensive 2010 Honda Accord trim level to get
Among popularly priced midsize cars, the Honda Accord is an unbeatable brew of smart engineering, efficient packaging, and rewarding road manners. Available as a four-door sedan and a two-door coupe, Accord is one of America’s most-popular cars, and we judge the EX sedan with the four-cylinder engine as the top all-around value in the Accord lineup.

Should you buy a 2010 Honda Accord or wait for the 2011 Honda Accord?
The only 2010 Honda Accord styling changes are newly available dress-up items designed by renowned Honda racing-accessory purveyor MUGEN. Available for the Accord sedan, they lend a sporty look to a design introduced for model-year 2008. In both wheelbase and overall body length, Accord is among the largest cars in the midsize class. Sedans come in four basic models labeled LX, LX-P, EX, and EX-L.

Coupes come in three models: LX-S, EX, and EX-L. Visual differentiation is subtle: models with the V-6 engine have dual exhaust outlets, and the LX sedan rides on 16-inch wheels with wheel covers while all other Accord sedans have alloy wheels in 16- or 17-inch diameter. Coupes have 17- or 18-inch alloys. Like every other midsize car, Accord has front-wheel drive, which puts the weight of the engine over the wheels that propel the car. LX and LX-P sedans have a 177-horsepower four-cylinder. The LX-S Coupe and all four-cylinder EX and EX-L models have a more advanced engine with 190 horsepower. EX and EX-L models are available with a 271-horsepower V-6. Four-cylinder Accords use a five-speed manual transmission or a five-speed automatic. Also for 2010, EX sedans and EX-L sedans and coupes gain new rear-seat ventilation ducts for better rear-passenger airflow. In Honda tradition, Accord offers no options packages, instead increasing the level of equipment as you ascend the model line. EX-L models are the only Accords eligible for a navigation system.

The 2010 Honda Accord prices are slightly higher than base prices for most rivals. This reflects Honda’s practice of equipping Accords with standard features for which many others charge extra. The 2010 Honda Accord LX sedan is priced at $21,765 with manual transmission and $22,525 with automatic. The 2010 Honda Accord LX-P sedan is priced at $22,765, or $23,525 with automatic transmission.

The "2010 Honda Accord" EX sedan with the four-cylinder engine is priced at $24,540, or $25,340 with automatic transmission. The 2010 Honda Accord EX sedan with the V-6 engine is priced at $27,515.

The "2010 Honda Accord EX-L sedan price is $26,740 ($27,540 with automatic) and $29,815 with the V-6. The 2010 Honda Accord Coupe prices range from $23,265-$29,590 for four-cylinder models and from $30,015-$32,015 for V-6 versions".
Honda’s engineers will argue that Accord’s five-speed automatic transmissions suit it perfectly. Dashboard and controls: Accord’s dashboard also reflects the engineer’s eye. The 2010 feature changes are welcome but leave Accord vulnerable to aggressive competitors.

While we’re hoping that Autobild’s claims for a sportier version of the Mondeo Sedan in 2012 are based on actual facts, we’re crossing our fingers and praying to God that Ford’s anti-VW Passat CC proposal will have very little in common in terms of design with this artist’s rendering. The front-end of the car looks like a swollen fish that came out of an appointment with a bad dentist. Utterly ugly.

2010 Volkswagen CC Overview

The 2010 Volkswagen CC ranks 10 out of 15 Upscale Midsize Cars. Available all-wheel drive sets it apart from many competitors.

Inside, the 2010 Volkswagen CC attractive two-tone color scheme and upscale materials make it a near-luxury car, but reviewers struggle with the CC's price.

The 2010 Volkswagen CC is available in four trim levels. The basic Sport edition carries a turbocharged four-cylinder engine,
Volkswagen has also upgraded the seats over the Passat's, with more bolstering and fancy cross-stitching.

The "2010 Volkswagen CC is a four-door sedan available in Sport, Luxury, VR6 Sport and VR6 4Motion trim levels. The Sport comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlights, foglights, cruise control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a tilt-and-telescoping steering column, power front seats, heated front seats, leatherette premium vinyl upholstery, split-folding rear seats, automatic climate control, a trip computer, Bluetooth and an eight-speaker stereo with a six-CD changer, satellite radio and an auxiliary audio jack".

The VR6 Sport trim level includes all the Luxury trim equipment plus a six-cylinder engine, 18-inch wheels, adaptive bi-xenon headlights, a power rear sunshade, steering-wheel paddles and a 10-speaker premium sound system. The top-of-the-line VR6 4Motion adds all-wheel drive.

The front-wheel-drive 2010 Volkswagen CC Sport and Luxury trims come standard with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder good for 200 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque. DSG is standard on the Luxury trim. Volkswagen estimates a 0-60 time of 7.4 seconds with this engine. Fuel economy estimates stand at 22 mpg city/31 mpg highway and 25 mpg combined with either transmission.

A six-speed conventional automatic with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters is the only available transmission.

All "2010 Volkswagen CCs come standard with antilock disc brakes" (with brake assist), stability and traction control, front-seat side airbags and side curtain airbags. Rear-seat side airbags are optional on all trim levels.

It received five stars for front-passenger side crash protection and four stars for rear-passenger side protection. At 13 cubic feet, the trunk is on the small side for a midsize sedan.

The 2010 Volkswagen CC also exhibits more body roll in hard cornering than true sport sedans, though the VR6 4Motion's tenacious all-wheel-drive traction notably improves matters.

2010 Mercedes GLK Review

The GLK-Class consists of two models, the two-wheel drive 2010 Mercedes GLK-Class and the all-wheel drive GLK350 4MATIC.

Standard safety features include electronic stability control, electronic traction control, brake assist, active front head restraints, as well as front, side, and side curtain airbags.

The 2010 Mercedes GLK350 is the second-cheapest Mercedes you can buy in this country, but you'd never suspect it. The 2010 Mercedes GLK is built to such a high standard that its price premium over most similarly equipped competitors seems well worth it. Drive the 2010 Mercedes GLK back-to-back with a C-Class sedan and you're bound to get a sense of déjà vu all over again. In addition to its aforementioned ironclad feel, the GLK's steering and ride are remarkably similar to the C's. The 2010 Mercedes GLK and the C350 share the same 268-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine, which in the GLK is the only power choice (a Bluetec diesel option should be available in future model years), while the seven-speed automatic is the lone transmission.

Mercedes' interior quality took a nosedive for a few years, but the GLK's quality construction proves that the three-pointed star represents a world standard once again. The GLK does have a couple downsides, however

The "2010 Mercedes GLK-Class luxury crossover SUV is available in one trim level known as the Mercedes-Benz GLK350". When equipped with all-wheel drive, it is the GLK350 4Matic.

Standard equipment includes 19-inch wheels, cruise control, automatic headlamps, eight-way power front seats, MB Tex premium vinyl upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, a power tilt and telescoping steering column, Bluetooth and an eight-speaker stereo with a CD player and an auxiliary audio jack. Other options include front and rear parking sensors, xenon headlights, leather upholstery, heated front seats, running boards, an iPod interface and a rear-seat entertainment system with dual front-headrest-mounted displays.

The 2010 Mercedes GLK350 is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 good for 268 hp and 258 pound-feet of torque. Rear-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive (known as 4Matic) is optional. In performance testing, a GLK350 4Matic went from zero to 60 mph in 7.2 seconds. Estimated fuel economy is 16 mpg city/21 mpg highway and 18 mpg combined with 4Matic. Sticking with rear-wheel drive nets 1 mpg better on the highway.

Safety
The GLK comes standard with stability control, antilock disc brakes with brake assist, front-seat side airbags and side curtain airbags.

Interior Design and Special Features
Some cabin controls are overly complicated, and the climate controls are mounted a little low, but the overall combination of physical dash buttons, steering wheel controls and the optional multifunction COMAND knob are reasonably effective at corralling the GLK's 2010 Mercedes GLK various functions

2010 Dodge Nitro Review

The 2010 Dodge Nitro Affordable Compact SUVs. The Dodge Nitro stands out for its aggressive styling, class-leading 5,000-pound towing capacity and functional cargo space but it ultimately can't match the performance or interior quality of its competitors.

The Nitro's price is about average for the class.
The Dodge Nitro comes in two trims -- the base SXT and the SLT. There's speculation that Dodge may discontinue the Nitro after the 2010 model.

"The...Dodge Nitro R/T 4X4 shovels a good cabin tech package into a vehicle that delivers mediocre performance and economy." -- Automobile Magazine

In the past, test drivers have complained about the Dodge Nitro's rough ride and handling. A huge plus is the Nitro's 5,000-pound towing capacity, which bests every one of its competitors.

When it comes to quality, the "Dodge Nitro's interior" is viewed by most as just adequate.

Almost all of the safety features on the Dodge Nitro come as standard equipment. The 2010 Nitro does well in most federal government crash tests, but falls short in insurance industry testing.

The Detonator and Shock trim features a more powerful 260-hp 4.0-liter V6 engine mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. Nitro's Heat trim offers standard amenities such as power mirrors, windows and door locks with remote keyless entry, satellite radio, air conditioning and seating for five. The Shock adds heated front seat, leather trim interior, and power sunroof. Standard safety features include: front airbags, side curtain airbags, active head restraints, traction and stability control with roll-over mitigation, brake assist, and a tire-pressure monitor.

For 2010, the Dodge Nitro has three new model designations: Heat, Detonator, and Shock.

Porsche 918 Spyder Hybrid now

So we already know a lot about the Porsche 918 Spyder Hybrid now. According to what Autocar reports, insiders at the Pebble Beach event reveal that the company plans to increase both the power and displacement of the petrol engine for the production model of 918 Spyder. The car will thus be more powerful than its 500 bhp V8 petrol engine and electric motors that produce a combined output of 712 bhp.

The concept’s 22-inch alloys are unlikely to make to the production model.

Also the Porsche 918 Spyder Hybrid will get a touch-screen infotainment system and side mirrors will be replaced by the cameras, with the images appearing on the instrument cluster.

Porsche released a video of the 918 Spyder's first North American miles before showing it off to the tony international car set at Pebble Beach last weekend.
The recently green-lighted Spyder reportedly has a long list of interested buyers will to fork over the anticipated $650,000 for a 500 horsepower 3.4-liter V-8 hybrid that gets 78 mpg.

2011 Audi Q5 Review

For 2011 Audi leaps into the hybrid SUV fray with a new version of its popular Q5 luxury crossover. While the 2011 Q5 will still offer an excellent 3.2-liter gas engine as standard equipment, the big news is the availability of a full parallel hybrid drivetrain, an Audi first. While pricing and other details are scant at the moment, Audi has said the 2011 Q5 hybrid will be available in late autumn 2010 and will feature a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder gas engine mated to an electric drive system.

First offered stateside in 2009, the Q5 has earned high praise for its classy interior and excellent driving dynamics. Competing in a crowded luxury crossover market filled with other pint-size entries like BMW’s X3, Mercedes’ GLK, and the newly downsized Cadillac SRX, the Q5 has succeeded in establishing itself as a hot-selling market force. The Q5 3.2 Quattro (as the V6 version is known) features standard all-wheel drive (AWD) and a six-speed automatic transmission. The Q5 shares its unit-body platform with Audi’s class-leading A4 sedan, riding on the same 110.6-inch wheelbase while jacking up the ride height to fit the SUV profile. As mentioned, Audi’s excellent Quattro AWD system is standard, using the now familiar TORSEN (TORque SENsing) differential to seamlessly transmit power to all four wheels. A variety of electronic stability and traction aids assist the Quattro system in delivering limpet-like traction.

Power is routed through a six-speed automatic gearbox, the only transmission offered. In the luxury crossover segment, many offerings strike a poor balance between handling and ride comfort. Body lean is well managed, and the crisp variable-assist steering allows for excellent maneuverability. Three trim levels will be offered for the 2011 Q5. Premium (base) trims come standard with leather upholstery over power front seats, genuine wood trim, and automatic climate control. Stepping up to the Premium Plus trim level nets buyers Bluetooth and iPod connectivity, along with a large panorama sunroof and heated seats. The range-topping Prestige trim gets Audi’s excellent MMI navigation system interface, along with a parking camera and thermal cupholders that can keep your Starbucks toasty all day.

Space up front is generous, but the somewhat cramped rear seat only grudgingly accommodates adults. In addition to antilock brakes and electronic stability control, Q5 Prestige trims come equipped with a blind-spot warning system. Front, side, and curtain airbags are standard, with rear-seat side torso bags optional for 2011. The addition of an earth-friendly hybrid drive system will set the Q5 further apart from the expanding pool of luxury crossovers. It’s a shame that Audi’s product planners refuse to import a trim sure to win over leadfoots and eco-warriors alike: the turbocharged, diesel-powered, seven-speed Q5 3.0 TDI.

The new Audi Q5 is equipped with a turbocharged 2.0 Liter, four cylinder engine. The luxury vehicle also features an 8 speed Tiptronic automatic transmission. Quattro all wheel drive is another feature and Audi will feature a hybrid version in 2011, as well.
The vehicle is easily maneuvered with variable assist steering. The anti-lock braking system on all four wheels comes standard. This particular model also features an 8 speed Tiptronic transmission with the four cylinder, but six speed Triptronic automatic transmission with the V6 engine.
Some of the Audi Q5’s most notable safety features are listed below for the consumer’s review:
Braking Guard
Side Impact Airbags-Standard
Side Curtain Airbags – Standard for both rows of seats
Electronic Stability System – Standard
Rear Side Impact Airbags – Optional
Blind Spot Warning System
Lane Departure Warning System
Automatic Low and High Beam Control
Swiveling Active Xenon Headlights
If the driver is approaching a vehicle or object, the device will warn the driver by flashing warning lights and emitting a sound. If no response from the driver, the automatic braking system will employ.
The body style bears resemblance to the Audi Q7. The vehicle features 19 inch alloy wheels, LED tail lights, S-line exterior trim, heated mirrors, roof rack and adaptive headlights.
The vehicle will accommodate 5 passengers.

2010 Chrysler 300 review

The 2010 Chrysler 300 ranks 3 out of 7 Affordable Large Cars. The aging Chrysler 300 still wins points for style, and in upper trim levels, for pure power. It offers vast interior room, competitive pricing, and a pair of available V8 engines -- one powerful, one absurdly powerful.

The 300, however, loses points for a fairly low safety rating compared to its competition, and for Chrysler's mixed reliability reputation.

Only with the current model has Chrysler revived the accolades and respect that once surrounded this proud nameplate.
Thanks to its distinctive styling, roomy interior and powerful performance capabilities, the latest Chrysler 300 has become a popular choice in the large sedan segment. According to our editors, nearly all 300 models should serve consumers well.

Current Chrysler 300
The Chrysler 300 is a large five-passenger sedan with rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. The Chrysler 300 comes in LX, Touring, Limited, "C" (labeled the 300C) and SRT8 trim levels. The 300C and SRT8 versions are the performance-oriented models. For rear-drive Touring and 300C models, Chrysler also offers the W.P. Chrysler Executive Series. This model rides on a 6-inch-longer wheelbase and provides additional legroom for rear-seat passengers.

Touring and Limited trims have a 3.5-liter, 250-hp V6 and a five-speed automatic. The top-shelf 300C and 300C SRT8 feature V8 engines with five-speed automatics. The 300C's V8 makes 359 hp, and the SRT8's boasts 425 hp. The SRT8 also features a stiffer suspension setup, more powerful brakes and a larger wheel-and-tire package. Most 300s are rear-drive, but Chrysler offers all-wheel-drive versions of the Touring, Limited and 300C.
In Edmunds.com reviews of the Chrysler 300, the car has fared quite well. Used Chrysler 300 Models
The current-generation Chrysler 300 debuted for the 2005 model year. Like fossil records, the Chrysler 300 has a long but patchy history. It was built through the 2004 model year.

the updated 2011 Jeep Wrangler makes an appearance.

based automobile manufacturer, released the images of the new 2011 Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited. The interiors of the new 2011 Jeep Wrangler includes a redesigned instrument panel and new storage areas with improved ergonomics and upgraded materials. The increased acoustical treatment in the new models has reduced interior noise. The 2011 Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited Sahara models has a body-color hard top, which the company says will provide more premium appearance. You can also go for different colors including Detonator Yellow, Deep Cherry Red, Sahara Tan, Cosmos Blue and Bright White for the new 2011 Wrangler models.

Once known for its rugged looks and Spartan interior, the Jeep Wrangler was the proletariat dream.

The 2010 Jeep Wrangler 4-dr I recently drove was actually pretty modern with its touch-screen navigation unit. The new Chrysler is slowly breaking out of its shell. (For a recap, visi our auto crisis hub.) There have been teaser shots of the new Dodge Durango, and now, the updated 2011 Jeep Wrangler makes an appearance.

The biggest changes on the legendary and popular Wrangler happen on the interior. The Wrangler's new interior is brighter than before, thanks to bits of silver trim on the doors, the passenger's grab handle, and all four air vents. Climate controls have been updated and a "Jeep, Since 1941" inlay is mounted onto the passenger grab handle.

Outside, the most obvious change for Jeep fans is the body-colored hard top for Sahara models. Has Jeep improved on its oldest nameplate?

2010 ferrari italia cars wallpapers

Maranello, Italy -- Ferrari does it again. The 458 Italia raises the bar for mid-engine exotic sports cars to new heights.

I’ve just driven the 458 Italia, the latest in Ferrari’s lineup of mid-engine V-8 sports cars. These are the cars that, in the modern era, have cemented Ferrari’s status as maker of the most desirable sports cars in the world. The 458 succeeds the F430 Scuderia, which followed the 360 Modena, which came after the F355. Before that we had the 308/328/348 series, but it’s really the 360 Modena that, a decade ago, really put Ferrari back on the map.

Some Ferrari fans didn’t care much for the styling of either the 360 Modena or the F430 Scuderia. Even as they conceded that the cars drove brilliantly, they pined for the classically clean lines of the F355. For them, the 458 Italia’s debut at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show in September must have been a red-letter day, because this Pininfarina design is drop-dead gorgeous. Did you think it looked good on the show stand, or in the published photographs you have seen in print or on the Web? Wait until you see the car on the street. It will not just turn your head, it will make your head spin around like a top.

The 458 is wide, low, lean, lithe, and luscious. The rear view is the most compelling, with the car’s triple exhaust pipes, the visible diffusers and venturi ducts, the silver prancing horse above the license plate, and the simple but evocative round taillights at the far upper corners. Unlike the F430, with its excessively slashed body sides, the 458 has clean body sides and relatively modest ducting. The pinpoint bi-xenon headlights and the LED eyebrows that spring back from them are delicate in appearance yet delightful to the eye. It’s all quite yummy, and that’s even before you take a gander through the rear glass and behold the redheaded Ferrari V-8 on display.

Ah, yes, the Ferrari V-8. It’s the latest evolution of the F136-series V-8s that serve in the F430 and more recently in the California roadster. In the 458, the engine is known specifically as the F136FB, and it’s mated exclusively to a seven-speed dual-clutch automated gearbox. What?!? No six-speed manual? That’s right: virtually no one has been buying them from Ferrari and so the 458 is the first-ever Ferrari that does not offer a manual transmission. The dual-clutch gearbox is the same one offered in the California but here, of course, it’s geared much differently for a much sportier characteristic.

We doubt that you will much notice or care. The dual-clutch gearbox is incredibly fast, smooth, and responsive. There is none of the lurching and gasping that afflicted Ferrari’s F1 automated-manual gearboxes for so long. You can press the big “AUTO” button on the center console and let the electronics take care of everything for you: the gearbox will snap off shifts faster and with less fuss than it took me to type the word “fuss.”

The V-8 itself is a remarkable technological and performance achievement. Ferrari V-12s? Who needs ’em? Not with a V-8 that revs, longingly, to an incredible 9000 rpm. Check out the other stats: 562 horsepower and 399 lb-ft of torque out of 4.5 naturally aspirated liters; a 12.5:1 compression ratio; dry-sump lubrication; four scavenger pumps to collect oil via dedicated oil-recovery ducts; and surface treatments for friction parts like the piston skirts, camshafts, and tappets that would do a diamond-cutter proud. And did we mention the 9000-rpm redline?

Wait, there’s more technology: a sophisticated electronic differential. The first application of magnetic-fluid dampers in a V-8 Ferrari (supplied by Delphi, these first appeared in Cadillacs and Corvettes and debuted at Ferrari in 2006 in the 599GTB Fiorano GT). Standard carbon-ceramic brake pads. An all-aluminum spaceframe body structure, clad in a super-thin aluminum body shell that is both super-rigid and super-light: the roof, hood, and door skins are made of a new alloy that is a scant 1.0 mm thick. Electronically controlled pre-loading of the brakes which detect and analyze the speed with which you remove your foot from the accelerator pedal so as to position the brake calipers in high-alert mode. And an extremely sophisticated attention to aerodynamics that resulted in a car that still looks good rather than like a caricature: the flexible front winglets in the lower air dams, flanking the front prancing horse, deflect downward by as much as 20 mm at speeds starting at 125 mph for increased downforce. The small vents just inboard of the headlights suck in air that is ejected through the vents just ahead of the front wheels; this also creates downforce. The ducts at the C-pillars direct air to the engine itself, while the ducts ahead of the rear wheels are sucking air into the engine compartment. The very clean body sides are designed to direct air into the rear diffusers, which conceal two radiators: one to cool the clutch, on the left; and one to cool the gearbox, on the right.
