BMW Recall

The German group revealed on Friday 1, October it had found a fault in the power braking system used in its BMW 5, 6 and 7 Series, however Rolls-Royce chairman and BMW executive Ian Robertson said the firm is "resolving the situation quickly".

A BMW spokesman told the BBC that the problem was identified via feedback from routine vehicle servicing, and that the recall is entirely voluntary.

It affects 10,522 BMWs in the UK and 955 Rolls-Royces.
Owing to this recall, the stocks of BMW drop to 3 percent below the 50 euros mark. There has been no further PR statement release from BMW.

The recall affects V8 and V12-powered BMW 5 Series, 6 Series, 7 Series, and Rolls-Royce models produced between July 2001 and November 2009.

End Quote Ian Robertson chairman of Rolls-Royce
Globally, 348,000 BMWs are affected, plus a further 5,800 Rolls-Royces.
BMW had been reportedly announced a voluntary recall of approximately 198,000 V8 and V12-powered BMW 5 Series, 6 Series, 7 Series, due to brake problem, according to BMWUSANews.com recently.

As explained in the report, ‘a leak may develop in the power braking system, potentially causing a vacuum loss and consequent reduction of power braking assistance’.
