2012 Ford Expedition Reviews

2012 Ford Expedition Reviews
The 2012 Ford Expedition comes with two different engines The 2012 Ford Expedition comes with premium quality interior material. The interior seat wrap comes in varied colours like stone cloth, camel cloth, stone leather and camel leather.

The 2012 Ford Expedition is the biggest SUV in Ford’s fleet and is expected to get revisions that include minor changes to styling and some cabin updates. Meanwhile, falling demand for Expedition’s extended-length version, the Expedition EL, might have Ford thinking about dropping that body style for model-year 2012 or 2013.

Should you wait for the "2012 Ford Expedition" or buy the 2011 Ford Expedition? Wait for the "2012 Expedition". The 2012 Ford Expedition is expected to receive assorted exterior and interior styling revisions as part of a moderate makeover. Its basic size and shape aren’t likely to change: no worries, the 2012 Ford Expedition will remain large, long, and boxy.

The regular-length 2012 Ford Expedition will return at some 17.2 feet long, bumper to bumper, with the EL version -- should it survive -- repeating at a full 18.4 feet. Check your available garage space before committing to an Expedition.

The 2012 Expedition probably will wear a new front end featuring an updated version of Ford’s trademark three-bar grille. Inside, the 2012 Ford Expedition will probably get a mildly freshened dashboard with updated gauges and a revised center stack of controls. Both 2012 Ford Expedition body lengths will again carry seven passengers on three rows of seats, or eight when the middle row is fitted with a bench seat instead of two captain’s chairs. In either configuration, the 2012 Ford Expedition will continue with comfy seating and ample head, shoulder and leg room for first- and second-row passengers.

The 2012 Expedition’s second- and third-row seats will again fold down to expand cargo capabilities. And cargo volume the Expedition does have. The regular-length model has 18.6 cubic feet behind the third row, 55 cubic feet with the third row folded, and 108.3 with both rear rows stowed. In the Expedition EL, the cubic-foot-volume figures are 42.6, 85.5, and 130.8, respectively.

The 2012 Ford Expedition should again be offered in multiple trim levels complemented by numerous options opportunities. Mechanical: The 2012 Ford Expedition is expected to offer new engine choices that can help bring this automotive throwback into the modern age. Out to pasture should go the long-serving 5.4-liter V-8 with its 310 horsepower and 365 pound-feet of torque.
One possibility is Expedition’s first V-6, which likely would become the 2012 model’s base engine. Tuned for truck duty in the F-150, output is 360 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. The 2012 Ford Expedition will continue with a choice of rear-drive or optional four-wheel drive (4wd). As before, the 2012 Ford Expedition will come standard with Ford’s AdvanceTrac stability control system that works to prevent fishtailing in extreme cornering or emergency handling maneuvers. The 2012 Ford Expedition will also continue standard with antilock four-wheel-disc antilock brakes for added stability in stops. Chevrolet Tahoe/GMC Yukon and Chevrolet Suburban/GMC Yukon XL: These are the General Motors rivals to the Expedition. Suburban and Yukon XL also should return in heavier-duty models available with a 352-horse 6.0-liter V-8. Estimated base-prices range is $38,500-$55,000 for Tahoe/Yukon and $41,000-$56,000 for Suburban/Yukon XL.

Estimated base-price range is $39,000-$54,000. Toyota Sequoia: Based on the Toyota Tundra pickup truck, the Sequoia, like the Nissan Armada, is slightly larger than the regular-length Expedition (and Tahoe) but smaller than the Expedition EL (and Suburban/Yukon XL). Estimated base-price range is $40,000-$60,000.

2011 Ford Taurus Reviews

2011 Ford Taurus - this ain’t your Mama’s Taurus! Options found on foreign-designed vehicles are standard equipment in the new" Ford Taurus". The 2011 Ford Taurus is a car with appeal, engineering, features and benefits that won’t take a back seat to any other vehicle in the world.

The "Ford Taurus" has been redesigned. When Ford redesigned the Taurus in 2010, it added some much-needed life (and competition) to the Affordable Large Car class. Before the Taurus’s update, buyers looking for a comfortable large car with decent performance had only one option: the Toyota Avalon. With the updated Taurus, buyers now have two very good options when shopping large cars.

Car reviewers have a lot of good things to say about the Taurus.
Most car reviewers say that the Ford Taurus is an excellent large car, but they say the same things about the Toyota Avalon.

The 2011 Taurus is available in SE, more upscale SEL, near-luxury Limited and high-performance SHO trims. The Ford Taurus SHO is reviewed separately.

A new high-performance Taurus SHO, powered by a turbocharged V-6, also joined the model line. The only down side to the new Taurus versus the old? Although the 2011 Ford Taurus can hardly be called exciting, it's a big improvement over the pre-2010 version. The 2011 Ford Taurus moves off the line smartly with its 3.5-liter V-6, making 263 horsepower and 249 pound-feet of torque. The Taurus SHO benefits from a lot more power, but it's a little less transformational than in past SHO Taurus sedans—in part because the SHO puts the power to the road with such stoicism and a lack of pulse-raising excitement. Road manners for standard Taurus models are quite impressive; the 2011 Taurus rides more firmly than you might expect from such a big sedan, taut but not high-strung, with a smooth ride and some natural body roll.

Front seats in the Ford Taurus are a little constrained by the large console, though it has great room for tall drivers. The Taurus is strong on safety. The Taurus SHO also offers an optional rearview camera.
The long list of standard features on the 2011 Ford Taurus means even base versions are well-equipped. The Taurus SE gets an AM/FM/CD player with MP3 playback; tilt/telescope steering; a 60/40 split-folding rear seat; a power driver seat; and power locks, windows, and mirrors.

Ford F-150 pick-up trucks Recall in the U.S. and Canada

Ford F-150 Recall
The Ford recall of 144,000 F-150 pick-up trucks sold in the 2005 and 2006 model years is due to inadvertent airbag deployment.

Ford Motor Co. announced Wednesday it will recall almost 150,000 F-150 pickups in the U.S. and Canada because of a potential airbag problem, but that's a small fraction of the 1.3 million trucks government auto safety regulators asked Ford to recall.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has the authority to force Ford to recall all the vehicles it asked for. The trucks being recalled were produced between November 2004 and June 2005 at Ford's Norfolk, Va., assembly plant. Ford said it is recalling only the vehicles made at this plant because the rate of unwanted airbag deployments for these particular trucks is many times higher than for trucks made at other factories.
A warning light indicating the airbag requires servicing usually lights up multiple times before the deployment occurs, Ford (F, Fortune 500) added.

The Ford F-series truck has been the best-selling passenger vehicle in America for almost 30 years.
Ford Motor Co. said Wednesday it will recall thousands of F-150 pickup trucks for potential airbag problems, the second safety issue this month with its best-selling vehicle.
Owners reported airbags inadvertently deploying after starting their pickups, Ford spokesman Wes Sherwood said in a statement--That recall started Feb. 14.

The recall involves trucks built at Ford's now-closed Norfolk, Va., auto factory from November 2004 through June 2005 and sold in the 2005 and 2006 model years. The automaker said the inadvertent airbag deployments are preceded by many illuminations of the airbag warning lamp indicating that restraint system service is required.

Federal safety regulators are reviewing Ford's recall plans and looking into whether the automaker's plan will fix enough vehicles with the potential for unexpected airbag deployment

The F-Series is the bestselling truck in America and last year was the nation's top selling vehicle of any type.

Trucks built at factories in Dearborn, Mich., and in Kansas City had much smaller rates of unexpected airbag deployment.

If not serviced, and unique circumstances occur, an inadvertent driver frontal airbag deployment may occur."

Federal safety regulators had wanted Ford to recall 1.3 million of the trucks, a wider range that included vehicles from the 2004 through 2006 model year. Sherwood said Ford decided it could correct the problem with a limited recall.

2011 Ford Fusion Reviews

The Ford Fusion has it all figured out. The Fusion does it with a canny mix of American style and global-think green-ness. There's no mistaking its brash chrome-barred grille as anything but pure Detroit--even while its downsized and hybridized four-cylinder engine turns in faultless city fuel economy on a par with Honda's hybrids.

The "2011 Ford Fusion" is a midsize sedan available in S, SE, Sport and SEL trim levels. The SE adds 17-inch alloys, foglamps, automatic headlights, dual exhaust tips, a fold-flat passenger seat, an eight-way power driver seat with manual recline and lumbar, steering-wheel radio controls and a six-speaker stereo with satellite radio.

The Sport adds a sport-tuned suspension and steering setup, 18-inch wheels, exclusive styling cues inside and out, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, a 10-way power driver seat, a four-way power passenger seat, unique leather-trimmed seats and the Sync entertainment and communications interface. The Fusion SEL adds heated exterior mirrors, puddle lights, a numerical keyless entry pad, ambient lighting, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats and leather upholstery.

The 2011" Ford Fusion" features three different engines. The base power plant -- standard on S, SE and SEL models -- is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 175 hp and 172 pound-feet of torque. All-wheel drive is optional on the Sport and V6-powered SEL.

The 3.0-liter V6 has a 20/28/23 mpg rating and the 3.5-liter V6 drops to 18/27/21 mpg.

Antilock disc brakes, stability control, front-seat side airbags and side curtain airbags are standard on all Fusions. The Sport model feels particularly buttoned-down thanks to its sport-tuned suspension.

The 2011 Ford Fusion ranks 2 out of 18 Affordable Midsize Cars. Reviewers were impressed with the 2010 Ford Fusion’s upscale interior, more powerful engine options and available all-wheel drive. The 2011 Ford Fusion maintains these traits, but gains a few more improvements.

The Ford Fusion had an excellent 2010. Perhaps one of the coolest additions to the 2011 Ford Fusion is the MyKey system. Most car reviewers agree that the 2011 Ford Fusion is ideal for small families.

If price isn’t an issue, but eco-friendliness and fuel economy are priorities, the Ford Fusion Hybrid is a wise choice. In addition to great fuel economy, buyers receive the same sprightly performance and high-quality interior finishing and amenities the 2011 Ford Fusion gasoline models offer.
Also, the Ford Fusion is one of the few Affordable Midsize Cars available with All-Wheel-Drive, making it a popular family car in the snowbelt.

2011 Ford Ranger

2011 Ford Ranger Review

Ford keeps its streak alive with its compact Ranger pickup. The Ranger is a true compact truck, sized below the mid-size Toyota Tacoma, Dodge Dakota and Nissan Frontier. Only GM's truck twins, the GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Colorado, still offer the smaller dimensions in the truck class. There’s no true four-door version of the Ranger, but the SuperCab has two small access doors for cargo stowage.

Three versions are offered--XL, XLT and Sport. Last year, the Ranger adopted standard seat-mounted side airbags and electronic stability control.
The biggest drawback is the 2011 Ford Ranger's dated design.

The "2011 Ford Ranger" is a compact pickup truck available in regular-cab and extended-cab (SuperCab) body styles. Both are available in XL, XLT and Sport trim levels. The Ranger Sport receives upgraded wheels (16-inch alloys on 4x4 models), a full-size spare tire, heavy-duty gas shocks (SuperCab), skid plates (SuperCab 4x4 models only), sidestep bars, bucket seats and a center console.

The 2011 Ford Ranger comes standard with a 2.3-liter inline-4 that produces 143 horsepower and 154 pound-feet of torque. This engine is only available with rear-wheel drive. Rear-wheel drive and a five-speed manual are standard, with four-wheel drive and a five-speed automatic available separately.

The 2011 Ford Ranger comes standard with four-wheel antilock disc brakes, front-seat side airbags and stability control. In government crash testing, the Ranger earned a top five-star rating for driver protection in frontal impacts and four stars for front passenger protection. SuperCab models can be had with a pair of rear-seat access doors and small, inward-facing rear jump seats.

Ford Ranger is a series of pick up trucks manufactured and marketed by Ford Motor Company. First generation (1998 to 2006) of Ford Ranger (international model) was engineered and designed by Japan engineers and second generation (2006 to 2011) by Mazda and marketed as Mazda BT-50 and third generation of Ford Ranger will be designed by Ford Australia.

2011 Ford Ranger is a compact pock up truck available in regular can and extended cab styles. All cab styles are offered with 6 foot bed and 7 foot bed is optional for all regular cab models.
2011 Ford Ranger XL trim is equipped with trailer hitch, 15 inch steel wheel, vinyl upholstery, split front bench seat, AM and FM stereo and air conditioner. Ford Ranger XLT 4X4 model is added with 15 inch alloy wheels, two hooks and heavy duty shock absorbers. This powertrain is available only with rear wheel drive channel.

2012 ford focus review

The 2012 Ford Focus has been fully redesigned. The 2012 Ford Focus is set to go on sale in early 2011. The only transmission Ford is talking about is an automated dual-clutch six-speed manual, which it calls PowerShift. Ford points to a modified control-blade rear suspension, electric-assist steering and a "torque-vectoring" front differential system known as Dynamic Cornering Control as evidence of this.

The new 2012 Ford Focus looks to be a big improvement and a strong contender in the small car segment--The 2012 Ford Focus is the best car for you if you want to experience the sort of compact car that’s got the rest of the world swooning

Should you wait for the 2012 Ford Focus? Expect 2012 Focus prices to start around $16,000 for the debut four-door sedan and four-door hatchback. -- The 2012 Ford Focus is designed by Ford’s European arm and follows the company’s sporty new “kinetic” styling themes. Ford calls the look “energy in motion.” Finicky foreign drivers and auto writers praise the road manners of those cars. Ford aims to link the interior of the 2012 Focus to the spirit of its exterior. The 2012 Focus platform is an evolution of the one that underpins the current European Focus and begins a migration away from today’s Mazda 3 design. Focus will continue to use four-cylinder engines, but from Ford’s new design family that promises fuel economy gains of 10-20 percent thanks to turbocharging, advanced new transmissions, and efficient, high-pressure direct fuel injection. Ford says PowerShift reduces fuel consumption up to 9 percent compared with an automatic transmission. Following 2.0-liter, Ford is expected to make Focus available with a direct-injection turbocharged 1.6-liter four from Ford’s new EcoBoost engine family; it should have around 180 horsepower-- Part of Ford’s aim with the 2012 Focus is to raise Americans’ compact-car expectations. In many overseas markets, the 2012 Focus will enjoy a climate in which cars its size carry premium prices; one European Focus model sells for the U.S. equivalent of $35,000. Higher-cost versions have an 8-inch central screen.

Ford won’t release 2012 Focus prices until shortly before the car goes on sale--EPA ratings for 2012 cars were not available in time for this review, but Ford will use fuel economy as a 2012 Focus selling point.

A massive step forward from the previous generation Focus, the seats have been upgraded, the dash and gauges redesigned, some high-quality trim installed and a reasonably thick steering wheel sits comfortably in your hands. Add in the optional MyFord Touch system, 8-inch LCD screen and 10-speaker Sony audio system (available on the $20,270 SEL trim level and standard on the $22,270 Titanium) and the entire dynamic of the interior is changed. Looking straight ahead at the dash it would be easy to think this was a true luxury car – although the rather low-grade leather on the seats (expected in the compact class) give away the car’s more humble origins.

If you’re wants are more basic, Ford will sell you an entry level S trim sedan for $16,270 – roughly $400 less than the base price of last year’s model.

Along with that vastly improved interior, the "2012 Focus" does deliver a more premium drive, thanks to upgraded sound deadening, not to mention an overall size that has grown. With an extra 1.5-inches wheel to wheel and a track that’s roughly 3-inches wider up front and 2-inches wider in the back, it just feels larger and more solid on the road. The sedan is 3-inches longer end to end, although the hatch is actually 4-inches shorter. That extra size is noticeable on those canyon roads, with this compact pushing the boundaries of the segment. Helping to deliver that feeling is an accurate and responsive electric power steering system, a fully independent suspension (rare in the compact class), not to mention what Ford calls Torque Vectoring Control. Essentially it’s an electronic limited slip differential, using the standard stability control system to add brake to the inside wheel in a turn to reduce wheel slip and deliver maximum traction.
And with how easy it is to over-work the tires on a front-wheel drive car, it’s much appreciated. The Focus does suffer from an all-too-common trait of modern cars – an unwillingness to downshift. Some cars in this class do offer more power, but only in higher-grade trims like the Forte SX or Mazda3 s.

While not quite as dramatically styled as the new Elantra, Ford is near the leading edge of design in the segment. A significant leap forward for Ford, in building the new 2012 Focus, Blue Oval product planners decided to follow a path similar to what Chevy has done with the new Cruze, adding size and content to the compact car segment – appealing to the American consumer’s desire for larger cars. Starting at $16,270 it’s not a bargain-priced domestic car, even if it is cheaper than last year’s model.

2012 Ford Edge will again come standard with front

The 2011 Ford Edge EcoBoost looks just like the refreshed 2011 Ford Edge Limited we drove earlier this year. Power figures were simply stated as "230-plus horsepower" and "250-plus pound-feet of torque." The 2012 Ford Focus ST, which will utilize the same EcoBoost engine, is rated at 247 hp and 250 lb-ft of torque, so we expect similar numbers for the Edge EcoBoost as well.

The 2012 Ford Edge adds Ford’s EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder to its engine lineup but should otherwise be largely unchanged after a midcycle makeover for model-year 2011. Should you wait for the 2012 Ford Edge or buy a 2011 Ford Edge? Wait for the 2012 Edge if you’re turned on by the EcoBoost’s pledge of four-cylinder fuel economy with V-6 performance. Buy the 2011 Ford Edge if you fancy all-wheel drive, which will only be available with one of the V-6s. Styling: The 2012 Ford Edge won’t receive any cosmetic alterations after receiving a minor makeover for model-year 2011. The 2012 Edge will continue to be sized and priced in Ford’s lineup between the compact 2012 Ford Escape crossover and the longer seven-passenger 2012 Ford Flex. Like all these Fords, Edge is a crossover SUV. V-6 2012 Edges should continue in four model levels, each incrementally adding features. The 2012 Ford Edge should also remain unchanged inside. MyFord Touch should remain standard on the 2012 Edge Limited and Sport models and optional with the SEL. Mechanical: The "2012 Ford Edg"e will expand availability of Ford’s EcoBoost four-cylinder engine, which made is crossover debut in the redesigned 2011 Explorer SUV. The 3.5-liter V-6 will again be standard in the 2012 Edge SE, SEL, and Limited models.

A six-speed automatic will be the only transmission offered in the 2012 Ford Edge. The 2012 Ford Edge will again come standard with front-wheel drive. Available on the SEL, Limited, and Sport models will be all-wheel-drive (AWD). Edge’s AWD system is very basic crossover-SUV. Ford had not specified the wheel size or suspension tuning it’ll employ with the 2012 Edge EcoBoost model.

All 2012 Edges will continue standard with four-wheel disc brakes with antilock control. Ford’s AdvanceTrac electronic stability control system with Roll Stability Control will remain standard on all models to help prevent loss of control and rollovers in sudden handling maneuvers. Features: The 2012 Ford Edge should maintain its impressive list of fanciful and functional features. Final EPA fuel economy ratings for the 2012 Ford Edge weren’t available in time for this review, but they’re expected to remain equivalent with model-year 2011 figures. The 2012 Ford Edge Sport model should again be rated at 18/25 with front-wheel-drive and 17/23 with AWD.

Fuel economy ratings for the EcoBoost 2.0-liter were not available in time for this review--The 2012 Ford Edge should reach dealers’ showrooms in September 2011--We anticipate the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder EcoBoost will eventually become the Edge’s standard engine.

Before you visit any local Ford dealers, used car sales lots with a 2012 Ford Edge or check out any new Ford deals, make sure you read our automobile reviews and automobile ratings about the 2012 Ford Edge you are considering. It could mean the difference between purchasing a great Ford Edge or throwing your money away on a problematic Ford Edge.

2011 ford flex

2011 ford flex Review
The 2011 Ford Flex has angled its way into a rare phenomenon. The cues are concept-car pure outside, with a rich-looking cabin standard on even the base $29,000 Flex. Borrowing from the MINI playbook, Ford lets you choose the roof color, mirror finishes, bigger wheels, and even a houndstooth-plaid interior. It outpaces even the Range Rover with e-gear like real-time traffic and movie times, an in-car refrigerator, and second-row footrests for your most important passengers.

The "Ford Flex" is a good-looking, high-tech alternative for families who want minivan features without minivan style. “While styling is subjective, Flex's spacious cabin and cargo area meet high objective standards."

The seven-passenger Flex is especially alluring if you want a decidedly un-minivan-like driving experience. The Flex offers a second-row refrigerated console, a dual-headrest DVD entertainment system, a reclining and power-folding second row and a power-folding third row. Like the Flex, it comes with an especially spacious third row.

The Flex Titanium is certainly not your parents’ Country Squire--The 2011 Flex comes standard with front-wheel drive, while all trims except the base model have available all-wheel drive.

The 2011 Ford Flex is a seven-passenger crossover wagon; optional second-row captain's chairs reduce seating capacity to six. It is available in SE, SEL, Limited and Titanium trim levels.
The SEL adds 18-inch wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, driver power lumbar adjustment, a six-way power passenger seat, wood interior trim, the Sync electronics interface system (optional on SE, includes Bluetooth and iPod control), an in-dash six-CD changer and satellite radio.

The new Titanium package adds on top of the Limited's features 20-inch chrome wheels, unique interior and exterior styling accents, microfiber suede seat inserts and perforated leather trim for the steering wheel.

Options on every Flex include second-row reclining and sliding captain's chairs and contrasting roof colors. The Limited can be had with 20-inch wheels, power-folding third row seats and a refrigerated second-row center console.

The 2011 Ford Flex comes standard with a 3.5-liter V6 producing 262 horsepower and 248 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive are standard with this engine and all-wheel drive is optional. EPA fuel economy estimates are 17 mpg city/24 mpg highway and 19 mpg combined with front-wheel drive and 16/22/18 with all-wheel drive.
The 2011 Ford Flex comes standard with antilock disc brakes, stability and traction control, front side airbags, side curtain airbags and rear parking sensors. With the rear seats lowered, the Flex can hold 83 cubic feet of stuff.

ford fiesta 2011 Reviews

Now, it's responding to steady sales of the Toyota Yaris, Honda Fit, and Nissan Versa by bringing us an adapted version of the well-received and very successful European 2011 Ford Fiesta.
The Fiesta just might woo you fickle Gen Z-ers with some exclusive stuff inside, like the SYNC media controller, premium audio systems, and nifty leather seats.

The Fiesta debuted in 2010, and this year, the Fiesta gets even more accolades: We named it the 2011 Best Subcompact Car for the Money.

With the 2011 Ford Fiesta, that's changed. With the Fiesta, many reviewers say Ford may radically alter what American buyers expect from small cars. The Fiesta has features rarely seen among Small/Subcompact Cars, from available heated seats to Ford's SYNC system to an airbag for the driver's knees.
Reviewers have been enjoying well-optioned higher trims. The Mini Cooper comes close to the Fiesta's fuel economy ratings, but costs about $5,000 more than the base Fiesta. However, if you're considering a well-optioned Fiesta (higher Fiesta trims start only about $1,000 below the Mini's base price), the Mini's BMW-sourced driving dynamics may make it worth looking at.
The 2011 Ford Fiesta is an all-new subcompact available in hatchback and sedan body styles.

Unlike much of its competition, the Ford Fiesta is available in both sedan and hatchback body styles. There are some distinctive Fiesta alternatives in this competitive segment. The Fiesta sedan, meanwhile, has a bit less rear seat room than the Chevy Aveo, Hyundai Accent and Nissan Versa.

The "2011 Ford Fiesta" comes with four doors in both sedan and hatchback form. There are three trim levels for the sedan (S, SE, and SEL) and two trims for the hatchback (SE and SES).
The SEL sedan adds LED parking lights, a rear spoiler, 16-inch "premium painted" wheels, a premium sound system (with satellite radio and six speakers), ambient lighting, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and the Sync multimedia voice-command system which now also offers turn-by-turn navigation.
The SE hatchback is equipped similarly to the SE sedan but adds a rear spoiler and wiper. All 2011 Ford Fiestas are powered by a 1.6-liter inline-4 that generates 120 horsepower and 112 pound-feet of torque. Disappointingly, there is no manual-shift feature.

Ford estimates the Fiesta's fuel economy at 30 mpg city/40 mpg highway for the automatic and 29/38 for the manual.
Standard safety features include stability and traction control, antilock disc brakes, front-seat side airbags and side curtain airbags. In Edmunds brake testing, a Fiesta stopped from 60 mph in a respectable 119 feet.

With its soft-touch dash top, metallic accents, edgy styling and tight build quality, the Fiesta's cabin has a premium vibe to it that's unexpected in an economy car. Ford's Sync system (standard in top trims) allows voice control over the audio system and your cell phone, and it also provides features such as voice-prompted turn-by-turn navigation (it works respectably well) and emergency assist. At 12.8 cubic feet, the sedan's trunk capacity is class-competitive. The Fiesta hatchback offers a bit less than that with its rear seat up. Unfortunately, the seats don't fold completely flat, and the Fiesta's 26 cubes of maximum cargo capacity pale in comparison to the Honda Fit's 57 cubes and the Kia Soul's 53 cubes.

We can say without hesitation that the 2011 Ford Fiesta provides the most rewarding drive in its class. The available six-speed automated dual-clutch automatic is another unusual perk in this class.

2012 Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca Wins

2012 Boss 302 Laguna Seca in Grabber Blue

Ford is auctioning a one-off 2012 Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca factory-painted Grabber Blue for charity at Barrett-Jackson this month.
one-of-a-kind 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca will be auctioned off to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at the 40th Annual Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction at WestWorld in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Ford and Barrett Jackson Auto Auction (BJAA) have worked together on other projects and like the previous auctions, the Grabber Blue 2012 Boss 302 Laguna Seca will be auctioned off with the proceeds going to charity. In this case, the proceeds of the auction for the Grabber Blue Boss 302 Laguna Seca edition Mustang will go to help the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

The standard issue 2012 Boss 302 Laguna Seca Mustangs are available in either black or silver with red trim so this could be a Mustang enthusiasts only chance to get a Laguna Seca edition in a different color and this special edition Grabber Blue Boss includes blue highlights inside of the car, where the traditional units come with red trim on the seats and rear x-brace.

Ford Focus Electric , car offerings from Ford

Ford Focus Electric Car

Ford recently showed off its first-ever fully electric car, called the Ford Focus Electric. The 2012 Focus Electric is powered by a 100-kilowatt electric motor with a 23-kWh battery, good for 123 hp and 245 Nm of peak torque. The Ford Focus Electric platform is shared by the gasoline and diesel-powered Focus models. Other standard features on Ford Focus Electric include MyFord Touch driver connect system, 15-spoke 17-inch aluminum wheels, a 60/40 split rear bench seat, push button start, audio system with nine speakers, satellite radio and voice-activated navigation system.

The MyFord Touch driver connect system is a new value charging feature powered by Microsoft and Ford also offers a smartphone app called MyFord Mobile that helps plug-in owners control their vehicles remotely.
Ford Focus Electric owners will be provided with a suite of driver information systems – on-board and off-board – designed to help them manage the recharge process, manage the most eco-friendly route on-board, monitor battery state of charge and maximize energy efficiency to optimize their driving range.
I’m very curious though as to how Ford managed a 4 hour charge time – does the shorter charge time affect battery longevity? Is Ford using better technology? A 240V 60A 6kW charger (Level 2) should technically be able to charge the Nissan Leaf’s 24kWh battery in 4 hours, but the Leaf’s internal battery management limits the charging to 3.3kW to limit the amount of heat generated during charging as the Leaf’s battery has no active cooling.
The light ring lluminates in quadrants as the vehicle charges. Flashing quadrants represent charge in progress and solid-lit quadrants show stages of charge completion.

Ford Focus Electric introduces new features and technologies - including a unique version of the MyFord Touch driver connect system especially for electric vehicles, a new value charging feature powered by Microsoft and a smartphone app called MyFord Mobile that helps plug-in owners control their vehicles remotely.
Ford Focus Electric is one of five new electrified vehicles included in the Ford electrification strategy. Ford Focus Electric will be powered by an advanced lithium-ion battery system engineered by Ford in cooperation with supplier LG Chem. As an all-electric vehicle, Ford Focus will qualify for a $7,500 federal tax credit.

2011 Ford Explorer Reviews

Gone is the Explorer’s off-road transfer case and maximum 7,115-pound towing capacity. For 2011, the Explorer is losing its truck chassis and getting a new unibody frame based on that of the Ford Taurus, Ford Flex, and Lincoln MKT. The Explorer will come standard with a 290-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 and can be optioned with a 237-horsepower EcoBoost turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that will improve Explorer gas mileage by 30-percent over the 2010 model's base engine. Ford is simplifying things for driver by providing Terrain Management.

The 2011 Ford Explorer will be fully redesigned.
Chances are that in some point in your life you've either owned a Ford Explorer or know somebody who did. Because of the Firestone tire/rollover debacle and changing consumer desires, Explorer sales have oppressively trended downward for the past decade. This new Explorer shares little with last year's model other than its name. The upside is more carlike driving dynamics and safety; the downside is reduced maximum towing capacity. In terms of size, the new Explorer is nearly 4 inches longer in overall length and 5 inches wider. The standard 2011 Ford Explorer engine is a new 3.5-liter V6 available in either front-wheel- or four-wheel drive. Step inside the new 2011 Ford Explorer and you'll still see three rows of seating. Also new is Ford's Curve Control, a system designed to enhance braking if the SUV exhibits signs of excessive speed while turning.

Summed up, the new 2011 Ford Explorer is much more in tune with what today's crossover shoppers are looking for.

Front-wheel drive and three rows of seats are standard; all-wheel drive with Ford's new Terrain Management System is optional. Ford's MyFord Touch system, with touch-sensitive controls similar to those in the restyled Edge crossover, is also optional.

Trim levels include the base, XLT and Limited. Seventeen-inch steel wheels and black plastic side moldings are standard on base models. The XLT adds body-colored door handles, painted black mirrors and 18-inch alloy wheels. The Limited has body-colored mirrors and 20-inch alloys.

Interior
The Explorer's dashboard can come outfitted with touch-sensitive controls and LCD gauge screens. With a second-row bench seat, seating capacity is seven. The third row folds down in a 50/50 split, with available power folding seats on the Limited. Other available features include leather upholstery, heated and cooled front seats, and a dual-panel moonroof.

On front-wheel-drive models, the optional turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder makes 237 hp and 250 pounds-feet of torque. Standard with the Explorer's all-wheel drive is Ford's new Terrain Management System. Towing capacity with the V-6 is 5,000 pounds. With the four-cylinder, it drops to 2,000 pounds.

Safety
Antilock brakes, side curtain airbags and an electronic stability system with Ford's Roll Stability Control are standard.

Options include adaptive cruise control with forward collision warning and inflatable rear seat belts.

2011 Ford Edge reviews

The refreshed Ford Edge has sharp new styling, a higher quality cabin and powerful engine options. Best of all, the Edge offers revolutionary touch controls for the stereo and entertainment systems.

The EPA has not yet rated the 2011 Edge. A drawback is the Highlander’s ho-hum SUV styling, which can’t compete with the Edge’s sleeker looks.
It saves almost $6,000 as compared to the Edge’s base price, and it increases fuel economy even more with a 20/28 mpg base rating.

If you're interested in the Edge, also consider buying a 2010 model. The 2011 Ford Edge is available in four trims: the base SE, SEL, Limited and Sport.
The Edge is available with both all-wheel and front-wheel drive, and Ford is claiming that fuel economy is 19-mpg city/27-mpg highway on the front-wheel drive SE, SEL, and Limited models, and 18/26 for all-wheel drive. Sport models are rated at 18/25 with front-wheel drive and 17/23 with all-wheel drive..
Available Edge features include a blind-spot warning system, Ford’s MyKey programmable key system, a rear-view camera, reclining second-row seats, a cargo area that can handle eight-foot long items, trailer-sway control, dual USB ports, RCA jacks, a memory card slot, Ford’s Sync infotainment system, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, Ford’s Easy Fuel capless fuel filler, satellite radio, wireless cell phone link, remote keyless entry, remote start, and a push-button start.

The system generally works well, once the driver learns the basics. The bad news is that Sync still sometimes doesn’t recognize certain voice commands (despite a Ford claim that the system can recognize 10,000 commands).

The "2011 Ford Edge" crossover is better in every way than the model it replaces. The new Edge looks great, especially in Sport trim, and the cabin is classier with loads of high quality soft-touch plastics. Ford spent a lot of time and energy improving the NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness) of the Edge, and the results are impressive. We got behind the wheel of both an Edge SEL and Sport model during a day of driving on curvy country roads in Nashville, Tennessee. The standard 285-bhp 3.5-liter in the SEL and Limited offers plenty of urge for everyday driving. Under the hood and behind the menacing “tuxedo black” grille is a 305-bhp 3.7-liter V-6 that is unique to the Edge Sport. One thing lacking in the Edge Sport is a sense of drama.
Adaptive cruise control, collision warning with brake support, hill-start assist, cross-traffic alert, and trailer sway control represent a small fraction of the available features and options.

Ford has also included the latest edition of its MyFord Touch system. Standard on the 2011 Edge Limited and 2011 Edge Sport, MyFord Touch displays information on either side of the speedometer and is controlled using an 8-in. touch screen at the top of the center stack. Ford also offers a factory-installed HD Radio receiver equipped with iTunes Tagging. The based Edge, the front-drive SE model is priced at $27,995, and the front-drive SEL model starts at $30,995.

2011 Ford Escape Reviews

The 2011 Ford Escape ranks 19 out of 24 Affordable Compact SUVs. The Ford Escape lead the compact SUV segment back when it was first introduced in 2001. Ford has added HD Radio this year and this feature compliments the much loved SYNC entertainment system, programmable MyKey and active park assist, a system which allows the Escape to parallel park itself with very little driver involvement.

Consumers looking at the 2011 Ford Escape should be sure to check out competitors compact SUVs. The Escape, however, does start almost $600 cheaper.

The 2011 Ford Escape offers all but one new feature over the 2010 model: HD Radio. The 2011 Ford Escape is available in three trims -- the base XLS, XLT and top-of-the-line Limited. The Escape also comes in a hybrid version, which is reviewed separately and costs $9,000 more than the gas-only Escape.
Options available on the 2011 Escape include Ford’s SYNC in-car entertainment system, active park assist which can parallel park the car with little driver involvement and MyKey, a programmable key which can set a speed limit on your Escape among other things.

The 2011 Ford Escape adds HD Radio capability for receiving higher-sound-quality broadcast programming where it’s available. Should you buy a 2011 Ford Escape or wait for the 2012 Ford Escape? No question -- hold out for the 2012 Ford Escape. There are no changes to the 2011 Ford Escape’s old-school styling. Interestingly, the 2001 Escape was one of the very first crossover SUVs. The 2011 Ford Escape comes in base XLS, midline XLT, and top-level Limited trim.
The 2011 Ford Escape repeats with a choice of two gas engines and a gas-electric hybrid powertrain. All versions are available with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive (AWD). The base front-drive XLS model comes with a five-speed manual transmission. The 2011 Escape Hybrid again combines the four-cylinder engine with an electric motor for 177 total horsepower. The 2011 Escape Hybrid uses a continuously variable transmission (CVT). With the four-cylinder engines, Escapes can tow trailers weighing up to 1,500 pounds. Hybrid Escapes are rated to tow 1,000 pounds.

Escape feels old on the road and dated inside. Also available is Ford’s MyKey system.
The Ford Escape has been a staple in Ford’s SUV line-up for over a decade.

During test drives, the 2011 Ford Escape handled much as it always has. The "2011 Ford Escape" comes with a choice of engines. With one of the Hybrid Escape models, you will enjoy the four-cylinder engine combined with an electric motor for a total rating of 177 Horsepower.

With the traditional Escape models, a five-speed manual transmission is included with front-drive models, while the V-6 engines are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.
If you like the handling and features of the older Escape models, you will be pleased with this one.

Other vehicles have advanced upon the features that the Escape once had. Nevertheless, the 2011 Ford Escape is better than many other vehicles in its class.

Boss 302 Racer

This limited production vehicle is positioned between the Boss 302 Laguna Seca and the Boss 302R Grand-Am racer.

Ford has been unusually un-forthcoming about the new 2102 BOSS302S track version of the BOSS 302. Much akin to the Mustang Challenge FR-500S race cars, the BOSS 302R is a non-street legal bare bones racer that is one step below the Grand-Am spec BOSS 302R.

Like the FR-500 series cars, the BOSS 302S will be available “over the counter” from your local Ford Racing Dealer. The car will be built at the Flat Rock assembly plant along side the other BOSS 302s but will have a lighter body structure lacking sealers, glues, and sound deadening.

Following the Mustang Boss 302R track car, and the road-going Mustang Boss 302, now comes the Boss 302S racer. This multi-purpose race car has been developed by Ford Racing to provide enthusiasts with an affordable way to road race. BOSS 302S aerodynamic updates include a unique fiberglass heat extracting hood, adjustable front splitter and adjustable carbon fiber rear wing. A “retro” styled BOSS 302 graphics package is included with each car and mimics the graphics from the original 1969 BOSS 302 program

2012 Ford Focus production in Germany until early 2012

Ford Motor Co. continues the global rollout of the new Ford Focus with production for Europe starting today.
The compact car, as a sedan and five-door hatchback, has already begun early production for North America at Ford's Michigan Assembly Plant.
Western European markets will source their cars from Ford's Saarlouis Assembly Plant in Germany, which will make the sedan, hatch and wagon. "Saarlouis is proud to have been the lead plant for Ford Focus production in Europe since the first model was launched in 1998."
Ford has sold more than 10 million Ford Focuses globally.
The punchy Focus ST variant won't enter production in Germany until early 2012, however.

The final piece in Ford's global puzzle for the Focus will be production at new plants in Chongqing, China, and Rayong, Thailand. That will complete the five-plant, three-continent, 120-market roll-out of the Focus, making it one of the most truly "global" cars on the market.

Though the standard Focus sedan and hatch will no doubt be interesting cars, we're waiting for the hot-hatch ST, so we still have a long year's wait ahead of us.
It's about time for the new global 2012 Ford Focus to hit the streets, and Germany has entered production to fill European demand.
The Saarlouis plant in the southwest German region of Saarland will build the Focus sedan, hatchback (ST hot hatch joins the line in early 2012), and wagon exclusively for the European market. To help reach those numbers, Ford extended permanent offers to 500 temporary contract workers.

"This is an important day for Ford, the Saarland and for Germany," said Ken Macfarlane, Ford of Europe's VP of manufacturing. Saarlouis, also home to the Kuga, joins Ford's Michigan Assembly Plant located in Wayne as the current hubs for the 2012 Ford Focus.
Production of the" 2012 Ford Focus" has started in Germany ahead of the vehicle’s showroom debut early next year.
Ford invested 300 million euros ($403 million) in modernising the Saarlouis Assembly Plant for Focus production, and the project has created 500 new jobs. The plant also manufacturers the Ford Kuga compact SUV.
Early production of the Focus sedan and hatch has also commenced at Ford’s Michigan Assembly Plant.
Australian Focus models will initially be sourced from the Saarlouis plant. Built on Ford’s global C-segment platform, the Focus will make up a large proportion of the two-million-plus C-segment vehicles produced annually by Ford by 2012.
