BMW X7 - BMW Reconsider Building X7 SUV?

While BMW is marketing itself as a sustainable automaker, pushing its “efficient dynamics” technologies, behind the scenes the accountants and execs still know that big gas guzzling SUVs are a quick way to make a fast buck. It’s for this reason that the German automaker is reportedly looking to introduce a larger X7 SUV.

According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, BMW is now “reconsidering its decision to cancel a new large SUV, which was meant mainly for U.S. buyers.”

Various sources are reporting today the initial BMW X7 info as the German company has announced its plans of building a larger SUV, larger than the X5 that is. Previous plans of building the "BMW X7 "were shut down due to the financial crisis of the last two years. Apparently, BMW is doing better now and it looks to re-open the BMW X7 project. Well the Chinese are known for having a soft spot for large cars, so it's natural BMW is considering an even larger (than the X5) X7 SUV.

BMW seems to have its mind set on cornering the SUV market, with its rumored plans for a bigger X7 designed to become a player on the US market.

The company is counting on a speedy economic recovery in North America, thus opening up new market opportunities for a big BMW SUV to take on the Chevy Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, Escalade and other kings of the road.

China’s strong demand for luxury goods makes it BMW’s most profitable market for large sedans, Bernstein Research estimating that 50% of BMW’s operating profits come from China. BMW themselves admit profits in China are in the low two-digit range
